STEPS TO COMMAND GOD’S UNDIVIDED ATTENTION PART 3

Psalm 91:14–15 — God promises deliverance, protection, and answered prayer to those who love Him and call upon Him.

Isaiah 65:24 — God declares that He will answer before His people call and hear while they are still speaking.

Jeremiah 33:3 — God invites His people to call upon Him, promising to answer and reveal great and hidden things they do not know.

Psalm 50:14–15 — God calls His people to thanksgiving, faithful worship, and prayer in times of trouble, promising deliverance.

1 John 3:21–22 — A clear conscience before God gives confidence in prayer, while keeping His commandments and doing what pleases Him are emphasized.

DEVOTIONAL

There are dimensions of divine intervention that require more than occasional prayer; they call for a heart that is yielded to God, a life that honours His Word, and a faith that refuses to give up. Throughout Scripture, we see people whose encounters with God changed their stories. Their experiences remind us that God is not limited by human impossibilities, and His power is not exhausted by the challenges we face.

God invites us into a relationship where we can call upon Him, receive His wisdom, experience His grace, and witness His mighty works. However, commanding God’s undivided attention does not mean manipulating Him or forcing Him to act. It means cultivating a life of faith, devotion, and spiritual sensitivity that honours His presence and responds to His instructions.

In this part, we will consider four additional steps that help us deepen our relationship with God and position ourselves to recognize His intervention.

1. WORSHIP GOD FROM YOUR HEART

Psalm 34:1 teaches us to bless the Lord continually and keep His praise in our mouths. John 4:23–24 reveals that the Father seeks those who worship Him in spirit and truth.

Worship is more than singing songs; it is the expression of a heart that honours God for who He is. Do not reserve your worship for seasons of breakthrough alone. Learn to magnify Him in difficult moments, uncertain seasons, and unanswered questions.

When you worship, you redirect your attention from the size of your challenges to the greatness of your God. Worship does not manipulate God; it strengthens your focus on His character, faithfulness, and sovereignty.

Memorable Truth: Let your worship be greater than your worries.

2. MAKE GOD’S WORD YOUR AUTHORITY

John 15:7 connects abiding in Christ and allowing His words to abide in us with asking according to His will. Joshua 1:8 emphasizes meditating on God’s Word and carefully obeying its instructions.

God’s Word reveals His character, promises, instructions, and principles. A strong prayer life must be supported by a life rooted in Scripture. As you study and meditate on the Word, your desires are shaped, your faith grows, and your prayers become increasingly aligned with God’s will.

Do not merely quote the Word during prayer; allow it to govern your decisions, attitudes, relationships, and conduct.

Memorable Truth: The Word that fills your heart should shape the prayers you offer.

3. CULTIVATE A THANKFUL HEART

Philippians 4:6–7 teaches believers to present their requests to God with thanksgiving and promises God’s peace to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. First Thessalonians 5:18 instructs believers to give thanks in everything, according to God’s will in Christ Jesus.

Thanksgiving demonstrates trust in God’s goodness, even before you see the outcome you desire. Instead of allowing unanswered questions to consume your attention, remember His past faithfulness and acknowledge the blessings you already enjoy.

Gratitude does not mean pretending that difficulties do not exist. It means refusing to let difficulties erase your awareness of God’s goodness. Bring your requests to Him with thanksgiving, trusting Him with both the process and the outcome.

Memorable Truth: Never let what you are waiting for make you forget what God has already done.

4. REMAIN FAITHFUL IN SECRET

Matthew 6:6 teaches the importance of praying privately before the Father, who sees what is done in secret. Psalm 91:1 describes the security and rest found in dwelling in the secret place of the Most High.

Your private walk with God matters. Before people see your public strength, there should be a personal commitment to prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience. Do not build a spiritual life that exists only when others are watching.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray privately, assuring them that the Father sees what is done in secret. Develop consistency in your fellowship with God, even when there is no public recognition or immediate reward.

Memorable Truth: Build in secret what you desire God to establish in the open.

DAILY APPLICATION

1. Spend time worshipping God sincerely today.

2. Read and meditate on a portion of Scripture before making important decisions.

3. Write down three things you are thankful to God for.

4. Set aside uninterrupted time for private prayer and fellowship with God.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Father, give me a heart that worships You sincerely, honours Your Word, and remains grateful in every season. Help me cultivate a consistent private walk with You. Let my faith grow stronger, my desires align with Your will, and my life reflect genuine devotion. Teach me to trust Your wisdom, recognize Your leading, and remain faithful whether or not others see my efforts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am committed to a deeper walk with God. My heart is full of worship, my mind is established in His Word, and my mouth is filled with thanksgiving. I remain faithful in secret and steadfast in my devotion. I approach God through faith in Jesus Christ, trust His wisdom, and rest in His unfailing love. My life will continually reflect His goodness and bring glory to His name. Amen.
