“The voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: ‘Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His mercy endures forever’…”

The shout of joy is often the sound that follows a divine turnaround. Psalm 126 describes people who had experienced captivity, but when the Lord brought them back, their mouths were filled with laughter and their tongues with singing. Their circumstances had changed, and their sound changed with them. What had been a season of captivity became a season of celebration. What looked like a distant dream became a visible reality.

There are moments when God does something so significant that ordinary words cannot adequately express it. The response becomes laughter, singing, shouting, and thanksgiving. This is why the shout of joy is more than an emotion; it is an expression of recognizing God’s mighty hand. When you understand what God has done, praise becomes natural. You are not trying to manufacture joy—you are responding to the evidence of His faithfulness.

Psalm 30:11 says, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing.” Notice that David did not say, “You will turn.” He testified about what God had already done. The mourning had been turned into dancing. The sackcloth had been removed and gladness had taken its place. In the same way, what once represented pain, disappointment, or uncertainty has become a testimony of God’s intervention in my life.

The shout of joy also teaches us that God does not only change situations; He changes the atmosphere surrounding those situations. Jeremiah 33:11 speaks of the voice of joy and gladness being heard again. There are places where sorrow once dominated the atmosphere, but God’s restoration brought a new sound. My home has a new sound. My family has a new sound. My life has a new sound. The voice of thanksgiving has become louder than the voice of fear.

One of the greatest ways to preserve the shout of joy is to remember what God has done. Forgetfulness can make yesterday’s miracle look ordinary today. But when we deliberately remember His faithfulness, thanksgiving remains alive in our hearts. I therefore refuse to overlook God’s goodness. I remember His help, His provision, His protection, His direction, and His countless acts of mercy. Every remembrance gives me another reason to rejoice.

The shout of joy is also a testimony to others. Psalm 126 says the nations recognized that “The LORD has done great things for them.” When God changes your story, your testimony becomes evidence that He is faithful. Your joy can encourage someone who is still waiting. Your testimony can strengthen someone’s faith. Your celebration can remind another person that God is still able to do great things.

I have the shout of joy because God has brought me into a place where I can look back and see His faithfulness. What once looked like a season of waiting is now a testimony. What once produced tears has produced rejoicing. What once seemed impossible has become evidence that the Lord has done great things. Therefore, my mouth is filled with laughter, my tongue with singing, and my heart with thanksgiving.

Daily Application

Take time today to remember specific things God has done for you. Instead of focusing only on what is yet to happen, celebrate the evidence of His faithfulness already present in your life. Share a testimony, encourage someone, and deliberately give God thanks.

Prayer of the Day

Father, I thank You because You have turned my mourning into dancing and filled my mouth with laughter and singing. Thank You for every testimony, every victory, every provision, and every evidence of Your faithfulness. Let the sound of joy continually remain in my home and in my heart. May my testimony strengthen others and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I HAVE THE SHOUT OF JOY! My mouth is filled with laughter, my tongue with singing, and my heart with thanksgiving. The Lord has done great things for me, and I am glad. My mourning has become dancing, my sorrow has become celebration, and my waiting has become testimony. The voice of joy and gladness is heard in my dwelling. My life is a testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
