“Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous… Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:6-9 (ESV)
Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear. It means trusting God more than your fear. In a culture where compromise is easy, and shrinking back is popular, God is calling you to stand firm. Not in arrogance—but in faith. Not in self-confidence—but in God-confidence.
“Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you…” (v. 7-8). The Word of God is not a side dish—it’s the main course. You can’t be courageous in God’s call if you are disconnected from His voice. Meditation leads to obedience. Obedience leads to success. Courage isn’t spontaneous—it’s cultivated. How’s your time in the Word? Are you hearing His voice more than the voices of fear?
Courage Stands Because God Is Present “…for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (v. 9). You’re never standing alone. Others may shrink, abandon, betray—but God is with you. The presence of God changes the equation. Who or what are you trusting more than God’s presence? Where you go is less important than Who goes with you. Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear. It means trusting God more than your fear. In a culture where compromise is easy, and shrinking back is popular, God is calling you to stand firm. Not in arrogance—but in faith. Not in self-confidence—but in God-confidence. Are you facing something that scares you? Are you tempted to shrink back from what God has called you to? Come forward. Surrender your fear. Receive courage from the Lord.
Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus, “God, give me the courage to stand when others shrink. To trust You when it’s costly. To obey You when it’s hard. And to follow You wherever You lead.”
