The Price for Increase (Thanksgiving and Praise)

“Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.” Psalm 67:5–6 (KJV)

We live in a time when people often focus on what they lack, rather than what God has already done. But Scripture teaches that praise and thanksgiving are not just acts of gratitude—they are spiritual keys that unlock increase, abundance, and favor. Praise and thanksgiving attract God’s presence. Praise prepares the ground for increase. Praise is spiritual cultivation—it softens the heart, opens the heavens, and prepares the way for harvest. God will not release abundance into ungrateful hearts.

“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” Psalm 22:3(NKJV)

God dwells in the atmosphere of praise. When we create a place for God through our thanksgiving, He comes and brings increase with Him. Thanksgiving multiplies what you have John 6:11“And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples…” Jesus gave thanks for not enough—and it became more than enough. What you thank God for multiplies. Gratitude is the bridge between lack and abundance. Ingratitude blocks the blessing. Romans 1:21(NIV) – For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Ingratitude is spiritual blindness. When we stop thanking God, we begin to complain, and complaint dries up the flow of blessing. Israel grumbling in the wilderness was what delayed their promise.

Therefore, by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, [a]giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15(NKJV)

Continuous praise to God will lead to continuous increase. Consistency in thanksgiving keeps the door of blessing open. Don’t wait for big miracles—praise God daily for life, health, breath, provision. Praise and thanksgiving are not passive actions—they are powerful acts of faith. When we thank God before the increase, He releases it. When we praise Him in the little, He multiplies it. When we live a life of gratitude, we step into a lifestyle of abundance. Take a moment today to list the things you’re thankful for. Make praise a daily habit—not just in church, but in your home, your car, your work and watch how God brings increase—not just materially, but spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.

Prayer of the Day: “Father in the name of Jesus, I thank You today—not for what You will do, but for what You have already done. I praise You because You are faithful, generous, and kind. Let my thanksgiving become a fragrance that draws Your presence. And as I praise You continually, let the earth yield all my increase. Amen.”
