Practical Steps to Love Others (Part 1 – Feb. 7)

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” MATTHEW 22:37-40(NKJV)

The Bible provides a comprehensive guide on how to love others, emphasizing that love is the greatest commandment and the fulfillment of the law. The following practical steps, rooted in Scripture, offer guidance for believers seeking to embody Christ-like love in their daily lives.

  1.  Be Selfless and Sacrificial:

1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7, gives us a clear understanding of the nature of love. Love is described as patient, kind, not envious or boastful, not arrogant or rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs. It rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

  2. Love as Christ Loved: Jesus set the ultimate example of love by laying down His life for others.

JOHN 15:12-13 states, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” Believers are called to emulate this sacrificial love.

Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus, I ask for the grace to love as Jesus, selflessly and sacrificially
