“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7(NIV)
In a world filled with fear, intimidation, and uncertainty, God calls His people to rise above, not in their own strength, but in His. Fear is not from God. It paralyzes. It silences. It distorts truth. But what God gives us is the Spirit of courage — a divine boldness that moves mountains, confronts injustice, and lives faithfully even when the cost is high. The Spirit of God brings Power to act, Love to lead, A sound mind to discern. In Joshua 1:9, we read God’s command: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
This wasn’t just encouragement. It was a command. Why? Because courage is not optional in the life of a believer. If you want to follow Jesus fully, you’ll need courage — not just once, but daily. David faced a giant not because he was fearless, but because he had confidence in the God who delivered him from the lion and the bear. Esther risked her life to save her people, knowing that perhaps she was placed in the palace “for such a time as this.” The apostles, after Pentecost, were filled with the Spirit and preached boldly — even when threatened with death. They weren’t naturally brave — they were supernaturally empowered.
Are you willing to speak the truth when it’s unpopular? Will you share your faith when it may cost you your reputation? Will you forgive, love, and serve when it would be easier to withdraw? Courage might look like starting that ministry, leaving a toxic job, confronting injustice, or saying “yes” to a calling that scares you. How Do We Walk in Courage? 1. Pray for Boldness. In Acts 4, the believers didn’t pray for safety — they prayed for boldness. And God answered. 2. Stand on God’s Promises. Know the Word. Speak it. Remind yourself of God’s faithfulness. 3. Find Your Tribe. Courage grows in community. Surround yourself with people who will stir up your faith. 4. Take the First Step. Courage is built in motion. You don’t need to see the whole path — just take the next faithful step.
The Spirit of courage is not just for heroes in the Bible — it’s for you, today. You have the Holy Spirit inside you — the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. What can man do to you?
Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus I decree and declare that “I will not fear. I will not back down. I will not stay silent. The Spirit of courage lives in me. I will walk in boldness, in truth, and in love — because the Lord my God is with me wherever I go.” Amen!
