The Price for Increase (Sacrifice)

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” John 12:24 (NKJV)

God uses sacrifice to bring about supernatural increase in our lives—spiritually, materially, and eternally. In the kingdom of God, the pathway to increase is often not through holding back, but through giving up. The world teaches us to preserve and protect, but the Bible teaches us that sacrifice is the seed of multiplication. What you release in obedience becomes a channel for God’s increase. A farmer does not increase his harvest by eating all the seed. The principle of seedtime and harvest requires that something be released for something greater to come.

Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— 17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. GENESIS 22:15-17(NKJV)

Sacrifice brought generational blessing to Abraham. He was willing to sacrifice his son, and God provided a ram and declared: “In blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants” (Genesis 22:17). The Widow of Zarephath in the book of 1 Kings 17:8-16. Gave her last meal to the prophet Elijah. Her act of faith led to supernatural provision: “The jar of flour was not used up…” Let’s look at Jesus’s sacrifice for our eternal salvation. Jesus was the greatest sacrifice that brought the greatest increase: salvation for all mankind.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. PHILIPPIANS 2:8-9(NKJV)

Sacrifice is not just about what you give, but how and why you give it. God honors sacrifices made in faith, not out of obligation. Sacrifice demonstrates faith and attracts God’s favor. By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. Hebrews 11:4(NKJV).

Abel’s more excellent sacrifice still speaks. What Kind of Sacrifice Does God Ask of Us? Time – serving God and others even when it’s inconvenient, Treasure – giving generously and cheerfully, Talents – using gifts for His glory, not personal gain, Self – Romans 12:1, “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice…” Sacrificial living brings: supernatural provision – God meets needs in unexpected ways, Spiritual Growth – every sacrifice stretches our faith, Eternal Rewards – what we lay down on earth becomes treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:20). God is not asking us to give up to leave us empty—He asks us to surrender so He can fill us with more. Every true increase in the Kingdom is preceded by a sacrifice. Are you willing to lay down what’s in your hand so God can multiply it?

Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus, I ask that you help me to trust You enough to release what I hold dear. Teach me that sacrifice is not loss but the pathway to increase. I give You my time, my talent, and my treasure. Use it for Your glory and multiply it for Your Kingdom. Amen.”
