The Courage Factor Part 2

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9(NIV)

Courage is not just needed in crisis—it is essential for calling, obedience, and living out God’s purpose in a fearful world. Courage is the ability to act in faith despite fear, danger, or uncertainty. Courage is not a bonus feature in the Christian life. It’s essential. It’s the “X-Factor” that separates those who watch God move… from those who walk with Him as He moves. Courage doesn’t start with feeling brave, it starts with being aware of God’s presence. The phrase “Do not be afraid” appears 365 times in the Bible—one for every day of the year! Joshua was stepping into unknown territory—but God reminded him, “I’m already there.”

A child walking through the dark will cling to a parent’s hand and walk confidently—not because the darkness disappears, but because of who is holding them. If God is with you, you can do hard things. You can walk through uncertainty. You can face what others fear. Courage Obeys Before It Understands
“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place… obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8(NIV). Joshua was told to march around Jericho in silence for seven days. That strategy made no military sense. Courageous people don’t always know the full plan, but they know the One who gave it. Faith-filled obedience often precedes understanding and breakthrough. Noah built an ark before it rained. Peter stepped out of the boat before he could walk.

Courage leads with obedience, not comfort. Are you waiting for more clarity when God is waiting for more obedience? Where Do You Need Courage Today? In your calling? In your marriage? In a transition? In the face of fear, anxiety, or uncertainty? God is not calling you to be fearless. He is calling you to be faithful. God does not require you to be strong—just surrendered.

Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus, today I choose to live by courage, not comfort. Help me obey before I understand. Remind me that You’re with me in the battle, and You go before me. Let my life be marked by courage that comes from knowing You.” Amen
