Love Must Show Humility

Do not be proud but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. ROMANS 12:16(NIV)

Don’t be a snob. Don’t think you are too good to hang out with people who are not in your social class. Jesus was no snob. He mingled with tax collectors, prostitutes and drunkards. Jesus wasn’t a “front runner.” He was a true “friend of sinners” who welcomed everyone who wanted to be with him. Humility is the ability to be without pride or arrogance and it is a principal character that should be seen in those who follow Jesus Christ.

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. “JAMES 4:6(NIV)

Jesus did not preach inferiority, not in the sense of self-worth. Jesus did not teach people how to be abused by others. Rather, He taught us how to be lowly in nature so that we could forgive those who persecute us. Offering forgiveness to someone is not a sign of inferiority. God forgives us, but He isn’t inferior. Humility does not mean we should accept all kinds of treatment. True humility involves serving others selflessly, valuing others above oneself, and living in obedience to God’s will. Jesus’ humility is a timeless example that challenges and inspires us to live lives marked by humility and service.

Prayer of the Day: father in the name of Jesus, I ask that you grant me an example of true humility in my service to others and in living in obedience to your will
