Follow Willingly (Part 3)

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” — Romans 6:13 (KJV)

Following willingly is the highest expression of trust. It is easy to follow God when the path is clear and the outcome looks favorable. But true willingness is revealed when obedience costs something. Every time you choose God’s will over your own, something within you matures. Every surrender strengthens your spirit, and every yielded decision deepens your intimacy with Him.

The word yield in Romans 6:13 means to present yourself as available for divine use. It speaks of total availability—not partial surrender or conditional obedience. There will be seasons when following God leads you away from comfort zones, familiar patterns, or personal preferences. Yet every instruction from God carries empowerment within it. If He asks you to forgive, grace is available. If He asks you to step out, provision is attached. If He asks you to wait, peace is supplied. God never commands without also equipping.

At its core, willingness flows from love. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Love transforms obedience from duty into devotion. When love fuels surrender, obedience becomes a delight rather than an obligation. It is no longer about rules—it is about relationship. The more you know His heart, the easier it becomes to trust His hand, even when you cannot trace His plan.

Daily Application: Today, pause and ask yourself: Is there an area where I have been resisting God’s direction? Identify it honestly and bring it before Him in prayer. Make a conscious decision to surrender that area fully. If God has been speaking to you about forgiveness, obedience, service, or change—take one practical step today. Send the message. Make the call. Offer the apology. Spend intentional time in prayer. Practice immediate obedience in small things. Small obedience builds strong spiritual foundations. Guard your heart against complaint and replace reluctance with gratitude. Choose to trust even when you do not fully understand.

Prayer of the Day: Father, in the name of Jesus, search my heart and reveal any resistance within me. Teach me to surrender completely. Where fear has delayed my obedience, strengthen my faith. Where pride has resisted Your instruction, humble my spirit. I want to follow You not only in action, but in attitude. Align my desires with Your will. Help me trust You fully, even when the path is unclear. Not my will, but Yours be done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
