Evaluate Your Circle

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20(NIV)

“Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” 1 Corinthians 15:33(NIV)

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.” Psalm 1:1(NIV)

“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together… but encouraging one another.” Hebrews 10:24–25(NIV)

The people we consistently surround ourselves with influence our thoughts, attitudes, and spiritual direction. Scripture reminds us that our relationships can either strengthen our faith or slowly weaken it. When we walk closely with people who pursue wisdom, faith, and righteousness, their influence helps sharpen and strengthen us spiritually. On the other hand, constant exposure to negativity, compromise, and unbelief can gradually shape our mindset in unhealthy ways. Evaluating your circle does not mean rejecting or judging people; rather, it means being intentional about the voices that shape your life. God desires that believers build relationships that encourage spiritual growth, accountability, and faith. When your environment is filled with people who pursue God, it becomes easier to stay aligned with His purpose and remain strong in your walk with Him.

Daily Application: Take time today to reflect on the people who influence your life the most. Ask yourself whether your closest relationships encourage faith, integrity, and spiritual growth. If certain conversations or environments consistently produce negativity, fear, or compromise, consider setting healthy boundaries. Intentionally build connections with people who inspire you to love God more deeply and live according to His Word. Seek friendships that encourage prayer, faith-filled conversations, and spiritual accountability. By choosing the right influences, you create an atmosphere that supports your spiritual growth and strengthens your walk with God.

Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus, I thank You for the gift of relationships and community. Give me wisdom to evaluate the influences in my life and to choose relationships that help me grow closer to You. Surround me with people who encourage faith, truth, and righteousness. Help me also to be a positive influence who builds others up and reflects Your love. Guide my heart, my conversations, and my connections so that my life continues to honor You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
