“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8(NIV)
“If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” — Exodus 33:15(NIV)
Devotion is more than a routine; it is a heartfelt pursuit of God. It is the intentional choice to seek Him daily, love Him deeply, and obey Him fully. God’s presence is not carried by occasional encounters but by consistent intimacy. When we devote ourselves to God, His presence becomes a constant reality in our lives.
Moses understood that God’s presence was the true mark of distinction. He refused to move without it. In the same way, a devoted believer does not depend on strength, talent, or experience, but on the abiding presence of God. Devotion keeps our hearts sensitive, our spirits aligned, and our lives available for God to dwell in and work through.
Jesus modeled a life of devotion through prayer, communion with the Father, and obedience. Though surrounded by demands, He consistently withdrew to be with God (Mark 1:35). This shows us that devotion is not about having free time but about making God our priority. Where devotion is sustained, God’s presence is preserved.
Set aside intentional time today for prayer and the Word, even if it means adjusting your schedule. Ask yourself honestly: What competes with my devotion to God, and what must I realign? Practice obedience in the small things—devotion is revealed in daily choices. Stay conscious of God’s presence as you go through your day; invite Him into every moment.
Prayer of the Day: Father, in the name of Jesus, I present my heart to You afresh today. I choose devotion over distraction and intimacy over routine. Draw me closer to You and help me to walk in obedience to Your Word. Let Your presence rest upon me, remain with me, and be evident in all I do today. May my life be a dwelling place for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
