Be Courageous

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9(NIV)

Today, we’re talking about something that we all need—not just once in a while, but daily. Especially in a world full of uncertainty, division, fear, and change, we are in constant need of courage. Not the kind of courage that comes from pretending everything is okay, but a courage that is deeply rooted in God’s presence, promises, and purpose. When Joshua took leadership after Moses’ death, he faced an overwhelming task: leading an entire nation into the Promised Land. It was uncharted territory. There were giants in the land. There were battles to fight. There were fears to face. But God doesn’t say, “Try to be brave.” He commands it:“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.”

Courage is not optional. It’s a command for the believer—not because we’re strong, but because God is. Are you stepping into a new season? Facing a personal challenge? Leading others in your family, church, or workplace? Hear God’s voice: Be courageous. David faced Goliath with courage, not confidence in his own strength, but in God’s. Esther approached the king at the risk of her life, saying, “If I perish, I perish. Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, prayed in deep agony, yet said, “Not my will, but Yours be done. “Courage is fueled by god’s presence. “For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9. The source of our courage is not self-esteem, success, or strength. It’s the presence of God.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Isaiah 41:10(NIV)

When you know God is with you: You can walk into the unknown. You can stand in the fire like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. You can speak truth with boldness. You can keep going when you feel like quitting. Wherever you go— into the courtroom, the job interview —God is with you.

Prayer of the Day: “Father, in the name of Jesus I thank You because You are always with me. You promised never to leave me nor forsake me. I am never alone. “Even when I don’t see the full picture, Lord, give me the courage to take the next step in faith.”
