God’s desire for us is continuous growth. Luke 2:52 tells us that Jesus “increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” His life demonstrated progress in different dimensions. He did not remain at one level. As He grew, His wisdom, capacity, relationships, and influence also developed. Growth should be a continuing experience in the life of every believer.

To increase in wisdom means to grow in the ability to understand, discern, decide, and act correctly. Wisdom is more than possessing information; it is knowing how to apply knowledge effectively. There are opportunities that strength alone cannot maximize and doors that enthusiasm alone cannot sustain. We need wisdom to know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

Proverbs tells us that wisdom brings promotion and honor. Therefore, as we seek greater opportunities, we must also seek greater wisdom. Every new level requires greater understanding. When your wisdom increases, your ability to handle greater responsibilities also increases. God can give you insight for decisions, relationships, finances, ministry, career, family, and every other area of life.

Jesus also increased in stature. Stature speaks not only of physical growth but gives us a picture of development and increasing capacity. God does not want us to remain spiritually, mentally, or practically immature. He develops our character, discipline, competence, endurance, and ability to carry greater responsibilities. Before God places more into your hands, He often works to enlarge what you are capable of carrying.

Then Jesus increased “in favor with God and men.” Favor is God’s gracious hand creating acceptance, opportunities, relationships, and access that human effort alone cannot produce. Psalm 5:12 says that God surrounds the righteous with favor as with a shield. Favor can cause the right people to recognize you, doors to open, opportunities to emerge, and your efforts to receive acceptance.

However, favor does not replace character, wisdom, preparation, or diligence. Jesus increased in wisdom, stature, and favor together. Balanced growth matters. Favor may open a door, but wisdom helps you know what to do when the door opens. Increased capacity helps you carry the responsibility that comes with the opportunity. God does not only want to give us access; He wants to develop us so that we can maximize the access He gives us.

Never become satisfied with yesterday’s level of growth. There is more wisdom to receive, more capacity to develop, more maturity to attain, and greater dimensions of favor to experience. Continue learning. Continue growing. Continue developing your gifts. Continue strengthening your character. Continue walking closely with God.

Your life should become better, stronger, wiser, and more fruitful as you continue walking with God. You are increasing in wisdom to make better decisions, increasing in stature to carry greater responsibilities, and increasing in favor to access greater opportunities.

DAILY APPLICATION

Identify one area where you need intentional growth today. Ask God for wisdom concerning it, then take a practical step toward developing yourself. Read, learn, seek godly counsel, improve your skills, and remain diligent in your responsibilities. Do not only pray for greater opportunities; prepare yourself to handle them when they come.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Father, thank You because Your desire is for me to grow and make progress. Give me greater wisdom, understanding, discernment, and knowledge. Increase my capacity and develop my character so that I can handle greater responsibilities effectively. Surround me with Your favor and cause me to find favor with the right people. Prepare me for every opportunity You bring into my life, and help me to continue growing in every area, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I INCREASE IN WISDOM, STATURE, AND FAVOR! I grow in wisdom, understanding, discernment, maturity, and capacity. I am equipped to handle greater responsibilities and maximize greater opportunities. The favor of the Lord surrounds me as a shield. I find favor with God and with people. My life is moving forward, my capacity is increasing, and my path is becoming brighter.
