“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)
God doesn’t call us to understand everything. He calls us to trust. God doesn’t say that understanding is wrong—but that it’s not enough. Your understanding is shaped by: limited experience, temporary perspective, and human emotion. But God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). What looks like a setback to us might be a setup for something greater in His plan. Just because you don’t understand what God is doing doesn’t mean He isn’t working. “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” We often want clarity before we obey, but God often gives clarity as we obey. Submission is saying: “Lord, even when I don’t get it, I trust You enough to follow.” And when we do that—when we trust instead of overthinking, when we surrender instead of striving—God promises to make our paths straight. That doesn’t mean easy, but it means directed, purposeful, aligned with His perfect will.
Abraham didn’t understand how he could become a father of nations at nearly 100—but he trusted. Joseph didn’t understand why he was betrayed, imprisoned, and forgotten—but he trusted. Mary didn’t understand how she would carry the Son of God—but she trusted. None of them saw the full picture at first—but all of them walked by faith, not by sight.
How Do We Trust God Practically? 1. Pray Before You Panic – Let your first response be to seek God, not to solve the problem. 2. Let Go of the “Why” – Ask “What now?” instead of “Why me?” 3. Fill Yourself with His Word – Remind yourself who God is. The more you know His character, the easier it is to trust Him. 4. Surround Yourself with Faith Builders – Be around people who help you trust God more, not less. There will always be things you don’t understand. Pain that doesn’t make sense. Delays that seem cruel. Paths that feel confusing. But when understanding ends, trust begins. Don’t let your lack of understanding block your faith. Instead, let your faith rise above your understanding. Trust God—not because you see the way, but because you know His heart.
Prayer of the Day: “Father in the name of Jesus, today I surrender my plans, my fears, my desires, and my future to You. I acknowledge that You are in control, and I trust that Your way is better than mine. Lead me, guide me, and use me for Your glory. Amen.”
