Love Must be Generous

“Distributing to the necessity of saints;” ROMANS 12:13(NKJV)

The word “distribute” is the verb form of the word koinonia, to share with others. On one level it means sharing in the hurts and heartaches of others. On another level, it means opening our pocketbook and giving to propagate the work of God and meeting the needs of others. Here is a true measure of your Christian faith. What are you doing to support the work of God in your local church and around the World?  What are you doing to meet the needs of those who have less than you? Do you give “off the top” or “off the bottom” of your paycheck? Your answer says something important about the state of your soul.

Nothing demonstrates love more clearly than generosity. When we are willing to give of ourselves to another, we exhibit the character of God who was so generous as to give His only Son for our salvation

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ MATTHEW 22:37-39(NKJV)

Any love without giving is fake!! Love gives generously. Giving is a proof of love. If you love God, you will give your resources, money, time skills, talent to project His Word. If you love God, you will extend it In helping others

One way we can choose to be generous is by giving of our time. Taking a few minutes to stop whatever we are doing to focus on a conversation with someone else is a great gift.

All of us have skills, gifts or talents that can be used to propagate the work of God and help someone else. Look for opportunities in the lives of others where you might interject yourself in ways that will bless them. Love is it holds back nothing for itself. Jesus gave everything for us, the ultimate example of generosity. Actively look for ways in which you might give of yourself to others through acts of generosity. In this way you will demonstrate the love of God to someone in need.

We cannot love by keeping it all to ourselves. Love compels us to share what we have with others. Jesus poured out His blood, His very life, for you and for me. It doesn’t get more generous than that.

Prayer of the day: Father in the name of Jesus, please help me to live out the life of Christ through dedicated generosity to propagate the gospel and support others
