Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. ROMANS 12:9(NLT)

Believers are to demonstrate genuine love. “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Our love must be sincerely felt or expressed, not pretended. Let us love from the center of who we are in Christ; don’t fake it.”

The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. 1 TIMOTHY 1:5(NLT)

Sincere love is grounded in the character of God, whose very nature is love. We let our love be without hypocrisy when we love like Jesus does—when we replicate God’s love as demonstrated in the life of Jesus. Love without hypocrisy is unconditional. God loves us just the way we are. We didn’t have to clean up our act and iniquity for Him to love us: “God showed his unfailing love for us by sending Jesus Christ to die for us while we were yet sinners. To emulate God’s love, we must love people who are undeserving, unloving, and rebellious, just as we were when God first loved us. Since nothing can separate us from God’s love, we ought not to let anything separate us from loving others

You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. 1 PETER 1:22(NLT)

The word “genuine or sincere” literally means “without hypocrisy. To act in pretense or hypocrisy means anyone who acts contrary to his own true feelings and anyone who put forth the appearance of virtue that they do not actually possess. Genuine love means wanting what is best for the ones we love. If we see a brother or sister in need, we do our best to meet that need. Love without hypocrisy proves itself not only “with words or speech but with actions and in truth”

Prayer of the Day: Father in the name of Jesus, I ask and receive the grace to love people you have placed in my life genuinely, unconditionally without pretense and hypocrisy. Help me to be a true example of the love of Christ
